The YEAST4BIO Final meeting was held in Madrid at IMDEA Energy Institute on 9th and 10th April 2024. The meeting gathered 92 participants from 29 countries, well-balanced in gender (47% female) and with a high participation of young researchers (40 ECI) and Inclusiveness Target Countries (35 participants from 15 ITC countries). The researchers participating in the different network working groups presented their results around five scientific sessions:
- Session I: Alternative Feedstock;
- Session II: Biofuels and Bioproducts from Non-Conventional Yeasts;
- Session III: Results on YEAST4BIO Short Term Scientific Missions (STSMs);
- Session IV Molecular Biology & Session V Industrial Perspectives.
The programme counted on up to 38 oral presentations followed by interesting discussions. In addition, the event had the pleasure to host an Invited Lecture of Prof. Carlos Gancedo on “Non-conventional Yeasts: The Ugly Ducklings that turned into beautiful swans”.
The final MC meeting also took place on the 10th April, in which the Action Chair and Grant Holder Manager presented the Action achievements along its 5 grant periods (01/12/2020-06/05/2024) with a total budget of more than 550 k€ that allowed the organization of 13 meetings, 3 Training Schools, 47 STSMs, 15 ITC grants and 1 DGC grant.
